Loloi Rugs

Is there a room in your house that you love, yet you feel that it is missing a little something?  Perhaps the missing piece is a quality rug.  The right rug can really tie the room together!  Agape’s Interior Design department is proud to offer a large selection of quality Loloi rugs.  When looking for a new rug for your room, there are many things to consider such as size, shape, material, and design.

Loloi rugsHow to Choose Your Rug Size

When choosing a rug for your living room, family room, or sitting room, the front legs of your furniture should overhang the rug by about 4”-6”.  Furniture can be arranged in multiple ways around these rugs, so long as they still overhang the rug.  Loloi makes their rugs in a variety of sizes, with their nominal sizes (in feet) including:

  • 2×3
  • 4×6
  • 5×8
  • 6×9
  • 8×10
  • 9×12
  • 10×14

When choosing a rug for your dining room, the rug should extend past both the table and all chairs.  Below are some examples with various table sizes:

How to Choose the Right Material for Your Rug

Loloi also makes their rugs in a variety of materials.  The material the rug is made from can affect both the rug’s price and durability.

loloi rugNatural Fibers

  • Wool: Wool is a natural, hypoallergenic fiber used in rugs.  Wool is also considered to be highly stain resistant, but if a stain does set in, specialty cleaning is required to remove it.  Wool is also flame resistant, so it can be placed near a wood-burning stove in confidence.  Wool is a high quality, natural material and as such, is more expensive than synthetic fibers.
  • Jute: Jute is another natural fiber used in rug making.  Like wool, jute is also known for repelling common allergens, and is stain resistant, though not waterproof.  Jute tends to shed its fibers and has a rougher feel than wool or other synthetic fibers.

Synthetic Fibers

  • Polypropylene:  A synthetic fiber manufactured to have a soft touch and stain resistance.  Because it is a manufactured product, the cost is typically much lower than a natural fiber.  Polypropylene is also known for being fade-resistant, so rugs with brighter prints will hold their color over the years.
  • Polyester:  Polyester has many of the same properties as polypropylene but is thought to be a more durable material.  It has the same stain resistance, color integrity, and lower cost as polypropylene.  Polyester also has better UV resistance, so it can hold up better in areas with direct sunlight.
